Bristol Airport is a major United Kingdom airport, with a long history of civil aviation. The airport was opened in 1930, and at that time was only the third civil airport in the United Kingdom.

A new airport was commissioned in the 1950's, and opened in 1957. The airport gradually grew and expanded over the next few years, with cargo facilities greatly expanded.

A new terminal was opened in March 2000 by HRH the Princess Royal, and the old terminal converted to offices.

Bristol airport is now used by 30 airlines, flying to over 100 destinbations in the UK, Europe and Wordwide. Nearly five million passengers passed through the airport in 2008.

The major airlines with services from Bristol Airport include EasyJet,Ryanair, Lufthansa,Air France,KLM, ,Continental Airlines, Monarch Charter and Thomsonfly.

Bristol Airport has one terminal, with a variety of shops,bars and restaurants. The airport operators are keen to attract business travellers, providing two fully equipped business lounges.

Further expansion is planned for the mid and long term. The airport is well served with several Bristol Airport Car Parking facilities, making travelling on business and leisure as convenient as possible.

£600,000 investment to improve facilities at Bristol International

Bristol International is investing £600,000 in improving its customer car parking facilities ahead of the busy summer season.  The project includes the resurfacing of 62,000 square metres in the Silver Zone car park, making it easier and more convenient for customers using this facility.

The reception building in the Silver Zone car park – the first experience of the airport for many passengers – will also be refurbished, as will the customer service and payment facility in the long stay area on the north side of the airport site.

An additional 84 spaces were also added to the Long Stay car park in February this year.

Prices have been frozen in recognition of reduced travel budgets and, in some cases, car parking tariffs are lower than in 2008.  New products have also been introduced, including a cheaper, non-flexible long stay option and a priority area for those wanting to park as close as possible to the terminal.  Prices currently start from £29 a week in the Silver Zone car park.

Car park customers booking online this summer will receive over £20 in discounts on refreshments and shopping at the airport.

A team of over 100 staff run the car park operation at Bristol International, covering a variety of customer-facing and back office functions.

All car parks at Bristol International have been awarded Park Mark Safer Parking status, providing peace of mind for passengers while on holiday or travelling on business."
